The Warbington Chronicles: Camp Warbington

Welcome to Camp Warbington! In our effort to camp as much as possible and see as many waterfalls as possible, we made plans to camp over fall break weekend. We were headed far north, but our plans were somewhat thwarted when we were unable to find any tent sites available for this weekend. That is until we called Victoria Bryant State Park in Royston, Georgia. This is a wonderful, well-kept little secret. The very best platform tent sites ever - we are spoiled. So spacious and roomy. We even met up unexpectedly with some friends along the way, and even found us a few small waterfalls to boot.

So, here's how it goes. We arrive. We set up camp. We craft. What can I say? There's never a bad time for crafting. This weekend, we made our camp warbington sign, and some clay medallion necklaces (sorry no pic for these - maybe later as an ammendment to the blog) with leaf impressions. Chuck gets the fire blazing hot. We eat - oh, we eat good . . . .We talk. We sleep. We hike. We explore. WE LOVE IT!!! This particular weekend, we got to see the house in Royston that I was born in, attend the Royston Fall Festival, and on Sunday, we checked out another state park - Watson Mill Bridge. Another unexpected watefall (sort of . . . manmade, but we're counting it).

This had to have been one of the most beautiful hikes we have been on. Maybe it is the time of year. Maybe it is the unique history behind it. Either way, it was breathtaking!

A Few of Our Favorite Things

Mommy's favorite: foil packet dinners

Before we left for our camping weekend, I set up a buffet of goodies, ie: kielbosa sausage, zucchini, broccoli, onions, tomatoes, pineapples, olives, cubed potatoes, cheese, garlic, seasonings, etc. Everyone went through and chose their favorite mix and special sauce. I wrapped them up, labeled them, and that first evening, we just through them over the fire and oila - delish (and healthy) dinner.

Best deal of the day! $2.00 for a cup. This older gentleman would pack the ice down in the cup, add more, pack it some more, pour over the juice, and then top it off (and I mean a good 5 inches over the rim of the cup) with more ice and juice, and serve it up with a smile.
