Reader's Rally 2010

Wesley had the opportunity again this year to be a member of the Reader's Rally team at his school. This is a reading competition team in which each student must read 20 books over the course of 6 months and write and study questions in preparation for a quizbowl-type competition in February. Last year, they earned 2nd place in the county, so this year they were going for #1. Here they are in the cafeteria going over a few last questions before they are called back to begin round 1. Their motto, "To Buzz or Not to Buzz", says it all!

The competition was quite intense -for the students and the parents! Don't be fooled by their cool demeanor. These kids were shaking in their seats. In the end, Mulberry's team went on to become one of the final four teams left in the competition.

This is a picture of the team after the semi-finals. A few days later they went on to win the county championship. All of their hard work paid off and the victory was sweet indeed, as they celebrated with a victory tea at school. Congratulations team!!
